Jared’s earliest memory of rodeo was with his grandfather at
the Lehi Roundup. He asked him what his favorite part of the rodeo
was. Jared answered, “the clowns” and grandpa agreed.
Jared looked up to his grandfather and the thought that clowns were
cool to him impressed Jared.
Jared competed in Team Roping and Rough Stock events
throughout High School. He was the first to admit that he wasn’t
all that good and decided to pursue what he really wanted. Jared was
always the class clown, with a natural ability to entertain and be
funny. He spent the entire year in the hall as a senior in his chemistry
class because the teacher couldn’t conduct a class with him
in there. Jared loved to hear the roar of laughter as he was being
sent to the principal’s office. He would have never imagined
that that he would get a taste of his own medicine many times over
in the past eight years since he has been a school teacher. “A
heart felt public apology goes out to all the teachers who had to
put up with me, and especially Mr. Moss and Mr. Swasey”.
While in college, Jared attended several bull fighting
schools and started traveling as a bull fighter. He spent a lot of
time building acts and putting much effort into being funny. A good
friend and stock contractor that he worked for pulled him aside after
a bull riding one evening and told Jared to pursue the funny because
he was better at being funny than fighting bulls. This was an extreme
compliment because that is exactly what Jared wanted to hear. Jared
wasn’t that bad, and he is grateful for the bull fighting experience
as it has saved his tail and many others since he has been a barrel
man. Jared worked rodeos as a Bullfighter/Clown for about five years,
and has been in the barrel exclusive for the past four years.
Jared loves rodeo and the people that are associated
with it. There is not much more satisfaction for him than knowing
that a crowd had a good time and he played a part in it. Most of all,
however, he loves traveling with his family and sharing the memories
with them. Minnie Me (Jared’s son Jayse) is his life. Jared
has loved watching him evolve into the entertainer he is. Jared and
Annie couldn’t be any prouder of the way he loves rodeo and
the way his little mind is always thinking of new acts.
During the off season Jared is a Middle School Industrial
Technology Teacher, at North Cache 8-9 center in Richmond Ut. He has
been teaching for the past 8 years and loves every minute of it. Jared
really enjoys working with kids and believes it is the secret to staying
young, Most of time Jared is more of a kid than they are.
Jared started doing some magic in clown acts years
ago with just some tongue in cheek tricks. He started purchasing some
magic books and small tricks and has become quite good at close up
magic. Being a school teacher he always has a captive audience to
perform for. His students are the best to practice with as they are
very critical and let you know the second you slip up. Jared loves
it when he can take a class of 30 kids and trick every last one of
them. Jared met one of the greatest men and magicians a few years
back. Brad Barton of Ogden Ut., he has taken Jared under his wing
to develop his magic show to what it is today. Currently Jared is
working on some new arena size illusions that will surely be spectacular.
Jared is super excited to launch his career in the PRCA, and begin
the dream that has always been. Jared and the family hope to see you
down the road this coming year.
